What to do in Villefranche-de-Conflent and its environs?

 

   At Villefranche-de-Conflent, one of the most beautiful villages in France, a World Heritage Site by UNESCO, there are many places to visit.

The medieval city,

The ramparts,

Fort Liberia (UNESCO heritage) located above the Auberge Mas Cedar,

The Museum of Villefranche-de-Conflent,

The Little Yellow Train, which welcomes more than 300,000 visitors a year, is located 200 meters from the hostel Mas Cedar;

The caves (UNESCO heritage);

The Romanesque church of the eleventh century.

 

   A few kilometers away, other treasures of Romanesque art await you: Saint-Michel de Cuixà Priory Serrabonne and Marcevol, etc ...            Cultural events are not lacking elsewhere, especially near the capital of Conflent, Prades.

 

   At the heart of Regional Natural Park, a unique site for riding all-season activities: hiking in the Canigou, family walks, but also downhill skiing, cross country skiing or snowshoeing on the snowy slopes of the Cerdanya Capcir or neighbors.

Languedoc and the Mediterranean nearby

 

   Only 45 minutes drive , the Mediterranean Sea awaits you on the sandy coast of Canet and St. Cyprien or on the rocky coast in Collioure or Banyuls .

   Your visit may also continue north to the city of Carcassonne , not far from the famous Cathar fortresses or to Barcelona , capital of Catalonia .
